BY ORDER OF APPEARANCE, film by Guillaume Robert

Shot in July 2022 at Montagne Magique, Plateau d'Hauteville, AinWith Gaëlle Foray, Sophie Pouille, Jean-Xavier Renaud and Karim Kal.

In 2022, Documents d'artistes Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes is producing a series of filmed portraits of artists thanks to the support of the Ministry of Culture. In this context, Guillaume Robert was invited to make two new films with the founders of collective places located in the Ain: Bermuda in Sergy and Montagne Magique in Hauteville.

The film made at Montagne Magique approaches the place through the working process of the four contemporary artists involved in this multidisciplinary project, in a back and forth between their workshops and the surrounding nature.

In addition

Montagne Magique is a private cultural project under development. It is located in a former sanatorium on the heights of the Plateau d'Hauteville in the Ain, its name is borrowed from the famous novel by Thomas Mann.
Hauteville is a former sanatorium, our project participates in the safeguard of this singular architectural heritage which deserves to be highlighted. This rural territory of medium mountain located at 900 meters of altitude, is equipped with one of the oldest center of contemporary art of France, the CACL founded in 1971. Montagne Magique is part of this cultural history and works in synergy, creating a pole around contemporary art, creation and crafts.
We bought our place in April 2019 to install our professional workshops. We are four contemporary artists (Gaëlle Foray, Karim Kal, Sophie Pouille and Jean-Xavier Renaud), a craft brewer (Ludwig De Belvalet), a metal enameler (Corinne Boyer), a textile designer (Marie Aveline), a comic book author-illustrator (Julien Camp), as well as the Claudine and Jean-Marc Salomon Collection. Collective spaces (exhibition room, conference room, daily commons, gardens, etc.) complete the project.
