Works in the public space
Slimane Raïs

En attendant le songe

Public commissions, 2008
Parc des sculptures de la Chartreuse de Mélan, Taninges

Painted bronze, variable dimensions

The main idea of the work consists in inviting the visitor to the park to discover, almost by chance, on the ground, eight pillows that seem "real" and on which the hollow trace of the head of a person can still be seen. can imagine that she has just slipped away. This hollow in the pillow is then the witness of the poetic passage of the dreamer's dream. The pillow becomes the mute witness to these dreams. Because it is not a question for the artist of "revealing" in an exhibitionist way the content of the dreams of others. It is a question of materializing the trace of a dream while keeping its mystery. It is a question of suggesting that on this pillow, one of our contemporaries dreamed, and that the memory of this dream is both close and inaccessible to us.
