Excerpt from the presentation text:
"We wanted to evoke the existence of the elements of Nature, in the very context of the school, by setting up cast iron plates engraved in flat relief, like so many lids of containers within which we would like to keep them preciously. .
These plates are sometimes on the floor (covers), sometimes on the wall (doors), sometimes on the ceiling (trap doors), depending on their distribution in the construction and their evocation.
Among the four fundamental registers (Earth, Water, Air and Fire), we have selected the following 15 evocations:
-Earth register: “Roc! », « ! Earth ! ", " Mud ! “, “Lawns! »
-Water register: “Oh! “, “Mare! ", " At the water ? ", " The sea ! » .
- Air register: “Bise! ", " Air ! ", " The wind ! ", " Thunderstorm ! ", " Sky ! ".
-Fire register: “Fire! », « !713705 »
Words designate an element of nature and at the same time adopt, through interjection, the value of an expression. The element is called in the form of a play on words which can therefore invoke at least one other meaning. So we tried to find the widest possible field of interpretations.
The building distributes widely on a horizontal plane spaces dedicated to nursery and primary classes: we have chosen a realization which can, on this same level, connect the rooms, the circulation spaces and the playgrounds. Either an exploded work whose parts act as school life progresses.
We have identified two main perpendicular axes in the construction. The cast iron plates are equidistant along these axes, from the main entrance to the playgrounds. (...) "
