Among Sébastien Vonier’s works there are many which undeniably stem from sculpture, but which may also be looked at from a utilitarian angle. They are based on the tension between two seemingly antithetical systems: they beckon to art and, at the same time, they recycle a functional rhetoric. […] Tilting is frequent in Sébastien Vonier’s oeuvre: spatial reversal, tilt of the architectural fragment to painting, of plane to volume, and of sculpture to the object or the landscape. […]
