Marianne Vieulès graduated from the École supérieure de l’image de Poitiers in 2019 and studied for a semester at Concordia University in Montréal. She has developed a plural and mixed-media practice, which she structures into departments in the style of university research departments. Each of these departments features a set of physical pieces and a story that is only told orally, in the hope that these stories will be passed on and altered in time.
In these stories, the artist attempts to go to space on her own or to make machines play incomprehensible games, tries to rehabilitate the women in computing history through digital mediums, or to summon UFOs through large-scale collective games.
Some of her pieces are part of several departments, linking them all together conceptually.
She builds her stories and departments by mixing and manipulating real and fictional information that she collects beforehand.
