Lives and works in Grenoble

Fabrice Croux graduated from the Villa Arson-ENSA in Nice in 2001, from the ESAD in Grenoble in 2005, and the ESAA in Annecy (DSRA) in 2015. As an active member of the Association pour l’Agencement des Activités, between 2007 and 2013 he took part in the collective project of the OUI Art Centre in Grenoble. Since 2000, he has taken part in various residencies, and his work is regularly exhibited in France and abroad. In particular, he has been awarded the plastic art grant of the city of Grenoble, and he took part in the exhibition Rendez—Vous | Biennale de Lyon 2015 at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Villeurbanne/Rhône-Alpes.

Through a corpus of dispersed gestures and activities, his works reflect the notions of décor, amateurism and domesticity. The blurred boundary of his work is gradually being self-defined through the juxtaposition of the objects which he produces. They form “Heterogeneous Intentional Worlds” and are not attached to any precise medium, because they rely on means, encounters, and finds.

“[…] My praxis is formed by a set of more or less significant and regular gestures and know-how. They form a magma which, ideally, is not concerned with creating a work or not. It’s a kind of daily function, an activity which helps me maintain a state of attentiveness. And from there, from time to time, more significant objects, sets and desires appear, which then need certain conditions of time, economy, space and energy (a form of weather forecast) in order to exist.” […]
