Live and work in Geneva and London
Collectif_fact is made up of Annelore Schneider and Claude Piguet. They live and work between Geneva and London. Their projects, mainly videos, explore the massive production of digital images and content, and their ubiquitous, alienating and ecological impact on our contemporary lives. Their research investigates the role and use of digital tools in the creation of speculative worlds and the production of fictions.
Collectif_fact uses narrative, cinematic codes and editing as tools of speculation. Their videos dissect the different ways in which a narrative can be appropriated, disrupted and re-edited by mixing a complex array of references: 3D scans, bits of film dialogue, archival footage and sound extracts. The result is a collage of familiar and recognizable images, with a multitude of allusions to our visual culture. Collectif_fact plays with our desire to be drawn in and deceived by these images, and encourages the viewer to reflect critically on the habits that condition our perceptions of reality.
