FROM MEMORY, FAMILIAR FANTASIES

As an echo between the program LIRE LA VILLE and my artistic practice in situ, I searched for a visual vocabulary that would allow me to write this « city », this environment, and offer it to be deciphered, browsed. By drawing an inventory of shapes found in Monflanquin, I looked at the patterns which are lodged there and which attract me. Encouraged by the pleasure I take in making and reproducing them FROM MEMORY, I try to understand «how to look», repeating and repeating again to learn. Collecting the shapes, bringing them back to the studio, isolating them, painting them, copying them, making them mine and arranging them for and in the volumes of the exhibition space, in a kind of interpretative FANTASY. Our surroundings are marked by the silent presence of everyday shapes. FAMILIAR, they morph into patterns, while referring to a close reality, like a déjà-vu.
