Raymond Médélice

"Solitude nourishes my work. Not a void, but a space.
There, silence becomes substance, distance becomes strength, doubt becomes method. In seclusion, one's vision becomes clearer; in the absence of noise, ideas take shape. My work feeds on isolation. Not to flee the world, but to see it more clearly, to navigate it, and to interpret it. In silence, my thoughts coalesce, my gestures become more precise, and my vision sharpens. There, I find the distance I need to listen to what escapes the clamor, to give form to the invisible, to transform retreat into creation. Solitude, far from distancing me from the world, allows me to return to it with greater clarity."

Raymond Médélice uses acrylics, pure oil sticks, and India ink, and also creates monotypes on media such as paper, canvas, and cardboard. He prefers to use a palette knife to create paintings in which the subject, caught up in in the twists and turns that torment him, lies in a relationship with the world that can be at times anxious, or dreamlike.
