Luc Mattenberger

Luc Mattenberger is a Swiss artist who lives and works in Geneva and Basel. He obtained a diploma and then a post-graduate degree in visual arts from the Geneva University of Art and Design (HEAD). His work focuses mainly on sculpture and installation. He explores the multiple connivances between man and machine, with a particular interest in the motor as a vector and symbol of power. Over the course of his career, the artist has been awarded a number of prizes, including the Prix d'art de la Nationale Suisse, the Prix de la Ville de Genève, the Prix de la Fondation UBS and the Prix fédéral d'art (Swiss Art Award). He has held residencies in London, Marfa, Berlin and Paris, and was a resident of the Swiss Institute in Rome. His work has been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions in art spaces, galleries and museums, including Kunsthalle Basel, Centre Pompidou, Aargauer Kunsthaus, Mamco, Musée Tinguely, Kunstmuseum Bern, Espace Culturel Louis Vuitton, Kunsthaus Graz and the 5th Ural Industrial Biennial of Contemporary Art in Ekaterinburg. Mattenberger is co-founder and co-editor of the literary magazine Coma.
