Ladislas Combeuil

Born in 1985

Lives and works in Angoulême

Ladislas Combeuil graduated from the École des Beaux-arts in Angers in 2015 and was awarded the Aveyron department’s prize for contemporary art in 2023. He currently lives and works in the Charente and occasionally collaborates with his partner, artist Barbara Kairos. Ladislas Combeuil’s work has been shown in several solo and group exhibitions in Bordeaux, Paris, Nice and Thouars.

His work as a sculptor often derives from a simple, common material: plywood, which he rips up and scrapes to reveal its inner structure. The artist’s creations play on this dual surface/support nature.

Cut out, positioned, painted, covered in imprints — plywood becomes an architectural element. Hung on the wall like a picture, its abrasions become landscapes. Ladislas Combeuil takes us to a dream world made of wood that surrounds us with repetition.
