Katia Bourdarel

Born in 1970

Lives and works in Marseilles and Paris

Since the start of her production, Katia Bourdarel has worked on the polymorphism of mediums. From painting to video installation, her practice adapts to the concept and sensitivity of the project.
Drawing inspiration both from popular culture and her own history, she questions our general capacity to marvel and create works about our personal or collective memory. Her work deals with various opposing themes such as life and death, good and evil, innocence and guilt. She plays on similarities, intimacies, and the family fabric. Everything is superficial; everything seems simple. But something is askew and takes us to the other side, where the singularity of her work emerges.
