"My photography practice is rooted in the pursuit of what moves me. I am conveying these emotions immediately through the image I'm producing. This connection to through vibration originates from the visual and auditory immersion in the Caribbean carnival. I draw inspiration from my experiences and encounters in places that have a direct connection to my African heritage.
Through my engagement with the social and ethnographic issues specific to each region, I analyze the several layers of my Guadeloupean identity from a different lens.
My use of photography is currently evolving into a body of work focused on self-portrait, as well as a more direct connection to the body through performative art, which I explore via dance vessel. Through my movements and the tensions coursing through my body, I channel a memory made up of resonances and ruptures in constant dialogue with the Bigidi, that unique oscillation of Afro-Caribbean bodies.
In search of fragments of my identity, I weave a dialogue between my body, photography, and performance. This multidimensional practice allows me to experiment different forms of letting go, sometimes delegating the act of taking pictures to those around me, transforming the gaze into a collective gesture."
